National Gallery of Victoria: Behind the Scenes
The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is the oldest and most visited gallery in Australia. Founded in 1861, the Gallery hosts a wide range of international and local artists, exhibitions, programs and events; from contemporary art to major international historic exhibitions, fashion and design, architecture, sound and dance.
There will be the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes on Tuesday 2 December, 2-3.30pm. Booking is essential, and can be done through the conference registration page.

The World of the Book Exhibit at the State Library of Victoria
Established in 1854 as the Melbourne Public Library, State Library Victoria is Australia’s oldest public library and one of the first free public libraries in the world. World of the Book: The rare, the sacred and the iconic features more than 300 historically significant items from the Library’s State Collection, showcasing the history of book design, production and illustration from c.2000 BCE to today.
Curator-led tours of the World of the Book exhibit will run on Tuesday 2 December at 10-11am and 12-1pm. Please book through the conference registration page.

Illuminating Minds – Professor Margaret Manion and the Making of Art History at the University of Melbourne
Illuminating Minds celebrates the legacy of Professor Emerita Margaret Manion IBVM, AO, FAHA (1935-2024), Herald Chair Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne from 1979 to 1995, and internationally recognised expert in the field of medieval and Renaissance manuscripts.
This exhibition highlights her extraordinary contribution to art history and to the study of medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts, with a focus on research, teaching and advancements in the study of art history.
There will be tours of the Illuminating Minds exhibition running on Wednesday 3, Thursday 4, and Friday 5 December from 1.15-1.45pm. Tours are available to book through the registration page.

ANZAMEMS Post-graduate / Early Career Networking Event
Wednesday 3 December, lunchtime. Location TBC. An opportunity for postgraduate students and ECRs to connect over lunch.
Lunchtime Session with Parergon Editors
Join journal editors Professor Rosalind Smith and Professor Sarah Ross, along with other members of the Parergon team including reviews editor Dr Claire McIlroy, copyeditor Dr Bruce McClintock, and editorial assistant Dr Marina Gerzic, for an interactive lunchtime session about publishing in the ANZAMEMS journal Parergon. We will take you through the stages of submission to publication, and provide tips for making every part of the process smoother. Bring any questions you would like to ask, as well as any article or special issue ideas you would like to pitch.
Whether you’re a established scholar or an emerging researcher, this is a unique opportunity to learn how submissions are assessed, the challenges of peer review, and what makes a successful article or review.
This event will run over lunch on Thursday 4 December.
